Prior to her retirement she had been employed as a Fancy Stitcher in the area shoe industry. Sel loved the arts, sang opera, traveled all over the world, was an avid reader, involved in community theater, and especially enjoyed the beach having residences in both Rye, NH and Palm Beach, FL. The love Sel embraced with her immediate family will be truly missed. Mr. Benjamin J. DiBiaso, 93, a lifelong resident of Groveland passed away peacefully Tuesday evening at Brigham Manor Nursing Home in Newburyport. At the request of the family there will be no calling hours.
She knew the true meaning of friendship, spent a lot of time with her elderly and sick friends, and would always go out of her way to help anyone. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Lawrence and was the treasurer at the church for over 40 years. Mr. Johnson enjoyed gardening, landscaping, and dog and horse racing.

“Mike” Goodwin, 87, of Haverhill died unexpectedly Friday at his residence. She enjoyed gardening; bird watching, especially the hummingbirds she fed each day; the company of friends and family; and the companionship of her cat, Sheba. Although in recent months, she became increasingly confined, she continued to watch and follow her favorite Red Sox. From her illness' diagnosis to its final progression, she faced it with courage, humor, optimism, acceptance, and abiding faith, showing care and concern for others rather than for herself. Elizabeth Bonasia, 80, of Newton, New Hampshire, died peacefully at home on August 17, after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was the widow of Michael R. Bonasia, a Haverhill native and area businessman who died in 1986.

Mr. Alden Charles Johnson, 93, of Groveland passed away Thursday evening at Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport. Prior to her retirement, she had been employed for many years at the Imperial Cleaners. Mr. Frangedakis was employed at the former Western Electric for many years, was a member of the Crescent Yacht Club, and enjoyed all sports.
